Japan is fractured into many independent nations entangled in ceaseless war. At the center lies Ashina, a land of sacred earth and ancient mystery. Two decades after Sword Saint Isshin Ashina reclaimed the region in a brutal coup, a new threat emerges from within: The Interior Ministry. Desperate to protect his homeland, Isshin’s grandson Genichiro turns to forbidden powers. The only hope lies in a kidnapped boy — the Divine Heir — and his silent protector: a loyal shinobi known only as Sekiro.

This is the story of a lord and his retainer — and their quest to restore balance to a nation on the edge.

The fantasy story is set in an alternate world where one can choose the form in which one is reincarnated — but choices like the "demon king" or the "hero with cheat skills in a harem" are so popular that one would have to wait in line for one to 50 thousand years. So, our protagonist chooses to be reincarnated over and over again into other bizarre forms, such as the rib of a hero with cheat skills in a harem story's happy ending, a hermit crab, or a vegetable.

The story follows the dark forest-dwelling Luna, who people fear is a black witch because poisonous mushrooms grow wherever she goes. As such, the townspeople call her the "Mushroom Witch." However, despite never feeling any warmth from them, Luna begins to feel affection for them...? It's a magical fantasy of love, adventure and emotions!

Searching for a way to cure the plague, Kuro learns it can only be achieved at the cost of his own life. After much agonizing deliberation, he resolves to sever the ties of immortality once and for all.
